Snooker star Neil Robertson warned he needs to be ‘brutal’ and make his opponents ‘suffer’ as the former World Champion looks to return to his best.
Former snooker world champ Neil Robertson insists he must make his opponents ‘suffer’ as he looks to get back to his best.
The Australian has had a season to forget so far with him yet to reach the last 16 of any ranking event in one of his worst seasons to date, and after an unspectacular campaign last time, he has tumbled down the rankings.
Robertson is on course to drop out of the top 16 and looks likely to have to qualify to reach the World Championship at the Crucible in April. However, the 2010 world champ’s runs of 87, 78, 135 and 86 helped him beat world No.36 Jimmy Robertson in Berlin at the German Masters.
Following his 5-0 thrashing of Jimmy, Robertson told WST about his new mentality to put his poor run of form behind him, he said: “It’s very easily done. You take your eye off the ball for just a moment and you can’t just say, “oh, I’m going to start winning now.
This season I was like, I’m going to practice hard and start winning again, but it’s not like that. All of a sudden your opponents think, ‘maybe he’s not playing so well’ and then they raise their game. I need to put everyone down. I think that’s 10 consecutive frames I’ve won in a row now.
