Heading into the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors were thought to be a team that would be a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference, with the team seemingly reloading with the addition of future Hall of Famer Chris Paul.

Unfortunately for Golden State, things have not worked out as planned, with the Warriors struggling for the majority of the season and looking like a mediocre team throughout the first half.

With the Warriors currently five games below .500, they are looking for a way to turn things around and get back on track as a playoff-caliber team in the West.

One way the team might be able to get back on track is to say goodbye to one of the key contributors to the four titles won over the past decade.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors are finally open to trading sharpshooting guard Klay Thompson, via Warriors on NBCS on Twitter.

“They’re going to take calls on Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and could they get interest on a guy even like Klay Thompson? I think those are very much open conversations for the Warriors,” Charania said, via NBC Sports Bay Area.

Along with Thompson being on the table in trade talks, Wiggins and Paul are also available to teams that might come calling ahead of the NBA trade deadline on February 8.

Even though these three stars players are available, it’s uncertain what the Warriors might be able to get for them, with Wiggins having the worst season of his career, Thompson not being the same player of old, and Paul constantly dealing with injuries.

Only time will tell if the Warriors ultimately move one or all of these players before the deadline, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Golden State will finally break up its core three players.
