DENVER (WVUE) – The Denver Broncos are expected to hire former Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael for a role on the offensive staff, according to a report from NOLA.com-Times-Picayune/Fox 8 Sports analyst Jeff Duncan.

The move reunites Carmichael with Sean Payton, who named him as Saints offensive coordinator in 2009 when they won the Super Bowl. Carmichael held on to the position until the conclusion of the current regular season after the Saints missed the postseason with a 9-8 record overall.

Duncan said that Carmichael has not been formally determined but he’s expected to fill a role as senior offensive assistant.

Carmichael served as offensive coordinator for 15 out of the total 18 years he was with the Saints.

The Broncos are also finalizing the hire of former Saints assistant scouting director Cody Rager in a VP role within their personnel department, per source.

Rager will provide a fresh perspective for GM George Paton’s staff and has familiarity with HC Sean Payton from their time together in New Orleans.
